This is a Full Time Position for a Sr. Electrical Designer I in White Plains, NY

Job Description
To develop designs and detailed construction drawings in an Electrical discipline as necessary to accomplish construction and implementation of Generation and Transmission projects and modifications based upon information provided by specifications, design criteria, scopes of work or conceptual sketches. Design packages are prepared in adherence with applicable regulations, codes and industry standards and are vital for the successful completion of construction projects to ensure reliable and safe facility operations.
  • A Senior Electrical Designer I develops intricate design drawings for construction based upon technical specifications and design criteria provided by discipline Engineers.
  • Independently prepares final schematic diagrams/wiring diagrams/block diagrams, cable & conduit schedules/flow diagrams/equipment layouts/foundation details/plan and profiles/structural details/P&IDs/bill of materials, etc. specific to their design discipline.
  • Collaborates with other Designers and CADD Operators to develop complete multi-discipline design packages from data provided by Engineers and Design Supervisors.
  • Reviews final drawings prepared by other Designers to ensure accuracy and completeness of design and typically provides solutions to technical and field issues in a timely fashion.
  • Verifies field conditions through site inspections and interpretation of existing design documents to ensure that record drawings reflect actual field conditions.
Required Skills
  • Excellent technical expertise in design discipline and a high level of knowledge in engineering principles, construction techniques and generally accepted design & drafting practices.
  • Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and Raster Design. Familiarity with drawing management systems.
  • Good understanding of related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to view tasks logically and generate a design solution applying accepted standards.
  • Ability to expedite work in accordance with priorities as determined by the Design Supervisor. Able to handle multiple projects.
  • Ability to recognize issues that arise during the design process and solve technical problems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adjust to changing project requirements, priorities and assignments.
  • Approximately 10% - 15% travel primarily within NY State. As required, on occasion there may be travel out of NY State for inspections of equipment or for training purposes.
  • Potential for exposure to cold, heat, noise, dust, chemicals, solvents and/or any other substances typically found at a Generation or Transmission facility. Exposure is minimized through proper planning and support from site personnel.
Required Experience
  • Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or Applied Science.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Designer may be substituted for an Associate degree at the discretion of the company.
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of applicable industry related experience in Design and Drafting.
  • Minimum of 5 years design experience with a utility or an A-E firm.
