Tailwind Associates, an EOE, has a contract opportunity with our client in Charlotte, NC for a Field Technician
This individual is responsible for day to day support and maintenance. Responsibilities include installing and maintaining computer systems, (including software and hardware on desktops and laptops, resolving internet and network access issues (both wired and wireless)), providing network printer support, meeting with City staff to provide one-on-one technical assistance as needed/requested, providing training to staff on software and hardware use, determining causes of computer/software/network malfunctions through evaluation and testing, and resolution of malfunctions via modifications, repair, or external support assistance. The Technician may also be responsible for installation, troubleshooting and replacement of basic components, such as computers (mice, keyboards, monitors, and other external devices), printers (replacing toner, loading paper, clearing paper jams), video equipment and networks (including designing and deploying and system integration and configuration), cabling (including general cleanup, basic cable testing, and creating/maintaining documentation), maintaining inventory, and performing security escorts and access, process, and procedures.

The Field Technician provides IT support services in relationship to projects that are handled by the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. These projects include hardware and software installation & troubleshooting, coordinating break-fix activities with other service providers as needed, PC (Technology) Refresh, Computer Imaging/Reimaging, Hardware Rollouts, Hardware Migrations, Hardware Upgrades, User/Department (Workstation) Relocations, etc. The chosen individual will to the Airport TechHelp Manager.

Desired Skills and Experience:
Technician Support


· Active Directory (AD):
o 1-2 years of experience working with organizing objects, domains administration, users, groups, computers.
· Hardware Troubleshooting:
o 3-5 years of Component level diagnostic techniques such as A+ standards, bread-boarding (electronics method), process of elimination, media diagnostics, Power on Self-Test (POST), Basic Input Output System Codes (beep codes, lights, fans, noises), System board examination, Blue Screen of Death (BOSD) stop code research and resolution, MS-DOS Commands (DIR, SCANDISK, etc...)
· Network Troubleshooting:
o 2-3 years of end-user level network troubleshooting, network card inspection (lights), MS-DOS Commands (IPCONFIG, TRACEROUTE, PING, etc...), patching, cable toning, loop back testing, TCP/IP (IP addressing, Gateway, DNS, IPV4/6), Wireless Configuration (Security, SSID, Broadcast Channels, Bridging, Network Adapter Configuration in Windows.
· Outlook Troubleshooting:
o 1-2 years of experience scanning PST's, archiving, rename OST's, deleting and rebuilding profiles, migrating PST's, adjusting calendar permissions, disabling add-ons, cache mode.
· Microsoft Operating System Proficiency:
o 1-2 years of experience with Windows navigation for Win7 & Win8. Running Windows Explorer, FireFox, navigating the files and folders, locating specific files, configuring the view, customizing user favorites.
· Microsoft Office Troubleshooting:
o 1-2 years of experience with general troubleshooting in the areas of installation of 32 and 64 bit versions, setting up signatures, locating documents.
